1) What are the three Best things about your partner?
Wow, I think God played a HUGE part in this one, because I've always thought and said I loved my wife. And in a sense I have always loved her, just not like I do now. Now, I don't just love her, I'm in love with her and I love her with all that I am. She's my everything and I thank God for answered prayers, because He gave her back to me and opened my eyes, ears and heart so that I could love her the same way she's always loved me.
I fell in love with him for a million and one reasons. I knew I loved him and he was the 'one' in '96 when I watched him with my son, Logan. Jerry was just 16 at the time but he loved my son as if he was his own. Something Logan's bio father didn't even do. Jerry stepped up to the plate to be my sons daddy when he didn't have to. It was his love for my son that made me fall. And I continue to fall deeper and deeper in love with him everyday.
3) What do you and your partner usually argue about?
Really not anything anymore. Why waste what little time we have together doing that? Life's too short as it is and there's a thousand other things I would rather do, than argue with my wife, and they all involve her.
We don't really argue. I get in my feelings sometimes over mail, or lack of it I should say. But I am getting better at that. I know it's not my husbands fault when mail is running behind. And my husband is great at handling me during my mini meltdowns. He is really sweet to me. He handles me with nothing but love even tho sometimes I am not so nice to him. But new motto for me is : If it's not worth divorcing over, it's not worth fighting over.
4)How do you balance your needs with your partners needs?
I think the key to this, and many other things in a relationship, revolves around listening. There are times when the best thing said isn't even spoken. Close your mouth and open your ears and then you'll know what each other wants and needs. Happiness keeps you in balance, and there isn't a greater or a better, there is only a together. And as long as I have her I have all my needs.
Truly I struggle with balancing our needs, because I am naturally a giver. It makes me feel good to see him happy. I live for his smile, his laugh, his happiness. Same goes for 'our' boys, it's their happiness I live for. So I tend to put myself on the back burner to make sure they are taken care of. I do for me, only after they are taken care of fully. Sometimes that leaves me left out the equasion, as far as doing for myself, but if they're happy and taken care of that's all that matters to me.
5) How do you balance the needs of your relationship with each of your individual needs?
You have to have an understanding from the start. The house, the kids and then we work on the "US". That road has to be paved or the relationship will be bumpy. Then we can focus on our individual wants and needs.
I am getting better at this. I use to put all my time and energy into Jerry and our relationship. Like I worked so hard just to hold 'us' together. I kept myself stressed to the max, thinking I needed to be this 'Super woman'. I set standards for myself higher than even Jerry's expectations of me,and in doing that, I burned myself out and it put a strain on 'us'. So now I make sure he's good. I still write (just not daily anymore), I still do things with him (although we're limited right now) But I also take time for just myself and I allow myself to just breathe and relax. I have finally got to the point in our relationship I am secure enough to just enjoy 'us' and our marriage. Instead of killing myself to hold 'us' together, when that was never even a requirement.
6) How do you balance family and friends? Kids and spouse? yourself and your partner?
The way I do it is by making time for each. I think there should be a time made for each and then it will balance out.
Family comes first PERIOD. Friends? What are they exactly? I don't really have "friends". I have acquaintances. The few "friends" I do claim I consider 'family.' So the rest are merely acquaintances whom I associate with but will never go out of my way for. There's no need for balancing them into my life because it's truly not that serious. I don't lose sleep over acquaintances. Jerry comes before the boys as far as my time goes because God commands it to be that way. Biblical order of things: God 1st, Spouse 2nd, Children 3rd and everything else comes last. But I do make sure my children know they are loved and I try to make time for them although they don't always have time for me. Right now Jerry and I have time apart, so it's not really a factor of balancing me and him time. We get time together when it comes our way and we just tend to make things work best we can. Although any chance I get to spend with him, even if it's just on the phone, I am going to take it over anything else that might come my way. Spending time with Jerry is my 'happy place'. I love spending time with my husband, I never get tired of him.
7) How do you balance work and play? Your strengths and weaknesses?
I'm different when it comes to this because I like to mix it up. I think a little play with work is okay as long as no one gets hurt. As far as the strengths and weakness goes, I try to make my weakness stronger and my strengths I use them to help my weakness.
As for work and play, I am more of a serious person in this aspect. I think work needs to be done first and then you are free to play. Not to say you can't make work fun but I don't like to spend more time than needed on a job. I already make things way more complicated because I am a perfectionist. So I do not do well with distractions, I actually prefer to work alone because it's less stressful for me and I can get done quicker. My strengths and weaknesses tend to be the same things a lot of the times so balancing them tends to be hard for me. Like I love really hard which is a strength but also a weakness. I am a forgiving person, which is a strength but can turn into a weakness. I have anxiety which is a weakness but also a strength because when my anxiety is in full force that's when I have a backbone. But ultimately in my times of weakness God is my strength.
8) How do you balance the realities of your life today with your dreams and visions?
I focus on the realities. I live for the day and I plan for my future. My dreams and visions will come true if I do that, because these are the things I can control.
I tend to live in the here and now, but that doesn't stop me from thinking about the future. But even when I daydream about the future I still keep myself grounded and in the 'real' world. I don't set my expectations of the future up so high that it's not achievable. I keep my dreams at an obtainable level.
9) How do you balance your personal life, professional life and social life?
Again I feel there is a time for each of these things. You don't mix work life with home life and you keep your social life social.
I tend to mix my personal life with my social life (not in a bad way) I am just so in love with my husband that I tend to want to share our life with others. We have overcome so much in our relationship up to this point in our lives. And I am so unbelievably happy. Happier than I've ever been in my life. And it's because of this AMAZING man, that God put in my life. I am so in love with him that I don't want to keep our love to myself. I want the world to see what this man does to me and for me. His love is utterly amazing and even tho some can't get past his past long enough to see 'him'. I am not ashamed of him and I want the world to see him for the man he is and not who society tries to make him out to be. Some do not agree with me talking so openly and freely about 'our' life, but I don't care what others think. I love my husband and I will continue to talk openly about the man who forever changed my life and made my dreams come true. Unless he personally tells me to stop.
10) How do you balance your emotional, physical, and spiritual needs?
All these things have there own place. Spiritual needs are church and prayers, emotional and physical is something I work on with my wife, unless I do my physical by working out.
My husband helps keep my emotional needs under control. He is the calm to my storm when I just feel like I am about to break. God gave me him and made it where he could calm me with just the sound of his voice even from miles away. I try to eat right and have started working out again full time as I am getting older and I want to be around for as long as God allows me. Also I want to look good on my husbands arm because he always looks good on mine. As for my spiritual, I talk to God daily and I try to get in the word as much as possible. I am still not where I want to be as far as my Bible study goes and my 'walk' could use some improvement but I am a lot closer to where I want to be than I was.
11) How do you balance your short term needs with your long term goals?
I lean to the one that is the most important. I'm not really that into the "small" picture, the "Big" picture means the most to me. It used to be about me and I see that as a small picture. Now it's about my family and that's the Big picture.
Struggling here because I really need to be saving money for our future but my need for phone calls is making that almost impossible for me to save for the future.
12) Just how important is balance anyways?
It's important but you have to keep things where they belong for balance to really work, and that's dealing with anything in life.
I think some balance is definitely needed but everybody's personal needs are different. What works for me doesn't work for a lot of people. I think as long as the dynamics of your relationship works for you and as long as you can reach your happy-medium in your life everything will be okay. I believe there must be give and give in your marriage otherwise one is going to be fully fulfilled while the other is left drained and bitter.
The main balance that is a MUST in my life is my relationship with God and my relationship with everybody else. God is number one in my life and must be for He is the creator and 'I' wouldn't be without Him. So He must come first in all that I do. He cannot be an after thought in my life. He can't be an option. He can't be a 'when I get around to it'. He is a 'must'. With Him my life is balanced and without Him my life is chaos.
13) What is the most mysterious thing about the opposite sex?
WOW! I have to say the vajayjay and the way they carry a baby for nine months in their belly and then how a big ole head comes out of a little hole. (Well some have a little hole.)
The way their minds work. I am intrigued by the male brain. Like Jerry's mind fascinates me, I could literally listen to him talk for hours and never get bored. Same goes for his writing, I could read his thoughts on paper for days on end and still not get enough. That is TRUTH. He is brilliant.
14) What's wrong with men? What's wrong with women?
I don't have enough paper for this question. No for real. It's not what's wrong with men and women, it's what's wrong with the person. Just like with race, it's not the color it's the person.
I wouldn't say there was anything wrong with either sex. They are just made differently. They aren't supposed to be alike. Men are more wild, crazy, they stay childlike longer than women. Women are more assertive, bossy and they tend to grow up faster than men. I wouldn't say there was anything wrong with them, that's just how they were made.
15) Have you ever been infatuated? Describe the feeling. Describe the relationship.
Yeah, right now I'm infatuated and in love and in need of my wife. The feelings I have for my wife are amazing and my marriage is awesome and a dream come true.
I have been infatuated many times with my husband. I actually still am. He makes me giddy like a school girl having her first serious crush (Cause I guess he was my first actual serious crush). He makes me blush without even trying and I bite my bottom lip so much I'm surprised I still have one. My butterflies have turned to buzzards in my stomach, my heart still skips a beat and I smile like an idiot when the phone rings and it's him. He is my best friend as well as my husband and our relationship is freaking amazing. We have been through so many trials and tribulations that have always lead us back to each other and each one has made us that much stronger. We are God made, which means we are unbreakable to the world.
16) Do you consider yourself/your attitude/your beliefs to be fairly typical for your gender?
In a way, I mean I'm not sure about the gender thing, because even though I'm a man I'm still me. So the way I am is typical for me, but not all men.
I consider myself to be where I'm supposed to be. I do not believe my gender plays a role. I believe God does. I believe I have been molded by God to be the person I am today. I am not typical by the worlds standards. I stand apart from the females of the world, but I still have a ways to go to meet the standards of a Godly woman. Although that is what I strive to be like.
17) What is the one thing the opposite gender simply doesn't "get" about your gender?
I've had girls say, our dicks and some say our train of thought and our pride. And how all men try to play that,I'm man and I'm better than woman thing.
I can't speak for all females only me. The one thing I can honestly say that most do not get about 'me' is, and this goes for females to, I am a genuine person. I am loyal and I do not hold grudges. I am not fake and I am true to those I care about. I love hard and forgive easy. I don't trust easy but when I trust someone and I am betrayed, I try to understand why. I probably give more chances than anybody else, but when I am done I am completely done. But it takes a lot to make me get to the point of walking away. I am not a fighter in the physical sense, I just don't see the point honestly. But I am a fighter mentally, emotionally and spiritually. It takes a lot to break me but I have been broken multiple times, but with every break comes a new found strength making it harder to break me the next time.
18) What could members of the opposite sex learn by listening to you?
That not all men are the same. That we have feelings too. And some of us have been done just like they have, and that's why we act like and do the things we do. We're really not all that different on the inside, just the outside.
They could learn to love fully, to be themselves, that honesty truly is the best policy. Be real and don't try so hard to fit in because truly it's better to stand out than to get lost in the crowd. Don't be so quick to judge a book by it's cover, you might be surprised at what you find if you take the time to study the pages.
19) If you were to write a self-help relationship book, what would you title it?
"What do you see in the mirror", If people took the time to look at themselves and stop worrying about everyone else or the past. A mirror shows the right now and the person in the mirror, not anyone else.
Be True To You - Basically do what makes you happy, not everyone else. If you must live to make someone happy, let it be you. If you are looking for acceptance, look to good. If you must please someone, let it be God. Do not lose who you are trying to make somebody else happy. The right one for you will see the real you and love you for you. There's too many fake people in the world, you shouldn't be one of them.
20) Are there any circumstances in which it would be appropriate for a man to physically strike a woman?
NO! No man should hit a woman. Not out of anger. Now in the bedroom is something different because you have to spank that ass sometimes.
I don't believe men should hit women, but at the same time I don't think a man should have to just stand there and be beat on by a woman either. If a man has tried everything in his power to protect himself from a woman without physically hitting her and she refuses to stop coming at him, yes, I believe a man has the right to defend himself even if it comes down to him putting his hands on her.
21) What was your most embarrassing moment in the presence of a member of the opposite sex?
Wow, hard to believe it, I don't really have one of those embarrassing moments. Not that I remember anyways.
I believe that would be when I met Jerry's mom for the first time and she held me down and gave me a hickey. That was awkward and embarrassing.
22) Do you believe in love at first sight?
Yes. I believe in things that can be proven. Now that I'm older, and I know what love is, I know I loved my wife the first time I saw her.
I do, because I loved my children at first sight.
23) Do you believe in Karma?
Yeah, I believe what goes around comes around. If you give out bad then you get back bad. You can only get out what you put in. So if that's Karma then yes I believe in it.
I do believe in karma although I believe His name is God. And depending on your actions determines if you will receive good karma or bad karma.
24) Do you believe in an afterlife? In Heaven? In Hell? In reincarnation?
I believe in God and the things in the Bible.
I believe in Heaven and Hell because God says they exist. So I believe when I die to my earthly body, I will receive my heavenly body that I will remain in for eternity in Heaven.
25) Do you believe in astrology?Tarot? Palmistry?
yeah, I'm not real sure about all these. I mean if you look hard enough, I'm sure you can find some truth in them. As for me I've really never put that much time in them.
I think astrology is fun. I do not however live my life by what my sign says or based on the stars. Rather I live my life by what the Bible says.
26) Do you believe in the religion you were raised in?
I'm from the country and was raised Southern Baptist and as I got older I just believe in God.
I was raised Southern Baptist. Do I agree with everything they believe? Not completely. But I truly believe every religion believes they are right. The only thing I know for certain is, the only way to Heaven is through Jesus Christ and without him you can't get in. There's more to being saved than just saying you believe. You must live your life according to the Bible, not to the world.
27) Do You believe that two people can be "soul mates"?
For sure, I believe with all my heart and soul that my wife is my soul mate.
Absolutely, I do believe in soul-mates. I truly believe Jerry is mine, because the connection we have is to strong for us not to be. It goes beyond finishing each others sentences. We dream the same dreams, we know each others thoughts, we feel each others pain. Even miles apart we can sense when something is wrong with the other. It's a connection unlike any I've ever felt with another living soul. So yes, I do believe in soul mates.
28) Do you believe that the Bible is the inspired word of God? Do you believe it literally or do you believe it's open to interpretation?
I believe the Bible is the inspired word of God. But I also believe it's meant for you and your own interpretation. Because before I read the Bible I ask God to open my eyes and heart to what I need, and every time I do, I open it up to something that helps me and the things bothering me.
I do believe that the Bible is the inspired word of God. I believe everything it says happened really happened. I believe what it says is to come is going to happen how it says it is. I believe we interpret the Bible in the way God wants us to, but I do not believe it is meant to be picked apart and made to fit into the standards of the world. God never changes therefore His word never changes.
29) Do you believe it's proper for people to express their feelings in public?
As long as they don't do it in a negative way, that causes people to get hurt. There's a tome and place for everything.
I am not opposed to P.D.A (Public Displays of Affection) but I do believe arguments are for behind closed doors only. And P.D.A should be done with tact.
30) Do you believe people learn from their mistakes?
I believe only stupid people don't learn from their mistakes. That's why they call it a mistake and not a habit. Learn from it and don't do it again.
People should learn from their mistakes. Unfortunately some never do. Some take longer than others and I believe everyone is capable of learning from their mistakes but not everyone has the desire to grow up.
31) Do you believe that blondes have more fun?
I believe that is just a foolish stereo type, because it doesn't matter what color your hair is to have fun, be wild or be stupid.
No, I don't. I don't believe hair color has anything to do with the amount of fun a person has. I don't have blonde hair (although I have blonde moments, as people would say.) and I have had plenty of fun in my life.
32) Do you believe in the "American Dream"? (What is the "American Dream"?)
I believe in what Don King use to say, "Only in America". The so called American Dream is no more. However it isn't as bad as some countries, it is a far cry from what it used to be.
The American Dream being owning a home with a white picket fence and a perfect family with the perfect life? Yeah it sounds great in theory and looks great in a picture, but the reality of the "American Dream", is it's just a dream. That doesn't exist. It's great to have dreams, but people shouldn't set their standards so high. People need to be realistic and happy with what they've got instead of trying to keep up with everybody else.
33) Do you believe that most politicians are dishonest?
Come on now who doesn't? Show me someone who does and I'll show you a complete idiot.
I believe ALL politicians are LIARS. Mostly because most people would rather believe the lie than the truth. A lie is easier to sell to get the vote.
34) Do you believe that most people are honest?
Wow, that depends on the reason they have to be honest. Because I've seen times when a little white lie was okay. But I don't believe most people are honest.
Unfortunately no, I believe most people are dishonest and fake. Too many people care about fitting in than just being themselves.
35) Should smoking tobacco be banned? Should smoking marijuana be legalized?
Well now, both of these are a yes for me. Tobacco kills and Marijuana heals. 420 is so much better than D.O.A.
Truly I think people just need to stay out of other people's business. If people want to smoke, let them regardless if it's cigarettes or pot. If they aren't hurting anybody leave them alone. I do believe pot should be legalized, because it has serious health benefits.
36) Should hand guns be licensed? Should toy guns be banned?
I don't believe guns kill people. People kill people. As long as they are used the right way and you can prove you can handle one and you are old enough for one then yes give them the license. As far as toys go, toy guns are for little boys and little girls. They keep little boys from playing with dolls and let little girls, who don't want to play with dolls, have something else to play with. Keep in mind they are toys and if a kid does something wrong with one, it wasn't the toy it was the kid.
Licensing guns don't keep them out of the wrong hands. I find it pointless to license a gun. I don't think toy guns should be banned but I do think they shouldn't look as realistic as they do, because cops these days are trigger happy and kids get killed over toy guns because they look realistic.
37) What is the biggest mistake your boss has made lately? If you were in charge, what changes would you make?
Well since I'm in prison, my boss is the head warden, and this lock down is a mistake. If I was him I would've kept my word and not done it. Or at least done it a lot faster than what is being done.
This question does not apply to me. Unless you count my husband as my boss. In that case he hasn't made any mistakes and I wouldn't change anything.
38) What if you had to tell the absolute truth for one solid week?
I don't think that would be so bad. I pretty much do that already. I try to stay away from lies, all they make you do is tell more lies, If your man enough to do it, then be man enough to tell the truth about it.
I could do it. I tell the truth anyways. I just don't always fully speak my mind. If I had to tell the truth and fully speak my mind some people might have hurt feelings.
39) What if you could be a comic strip character... who would you be?
I don't know but I've always thought if I could be invisible that would be pretty cool. Think about it, if they can't see you then you don't have to be fast, strong, or super smart. Hell you could do whatever you wanted.
I guess I would be Garfield because he has the easy life.
40) What if blue smoke came out of your ears every time you became sexually aroused in the least little bit?
Well I would be known as the Blue Man and my nickname would be Smurf Smoke. Because just like the song "Sex is on my mind."
I would clear rooms due to the amount of smoke pouring out my ears.
41) What if you could create the absolute perfect job for yourself... What would it be?
Work in a zoo or around wild life.
Something dealing with pictures and graphic design. I'm a computer nerd.
- The size of her heart and the endless amount of unconditional love that it is filled with.
- The Bond we've had since day one. As well as the connection we have with our mind, hearts, body and souls.
- Not that it's really a factor but I love her body, head to toe. Her hair, her face, her lips. Everything is beautiful to me.. So the answer here is HER, she's the BEST!
- He really listens to me and doesn't judge me.
- He's honest and he doesn't sugar coat shit. I know that when I ask for his advice on something he's going to keep it 100 with me. Even if I don't always lie what he says, I at least know it's the truth.
- He's compassionate and has a huge heart. He's the sweetest guy I know. It's his kind hearted nature that gets him in trouble. But it's his one quality I happen to admire most.
